Brown & Brown drive donates nearly 2.5 tons of poultry for local families

Individuals and businesses generously supported Brown & Brown of Lynden’s 14th-annual Turkey Drive, resulting in nearly 5,000 pounds of turkey and chicken being distributed to Whatcom County families in need this month.
The drive funded the purchase of 4,881 pounds of poultry with 174 whole turkeys and 60 turkey breasts going to the Lynden-based Project Hope Food Bank and 400 chickens given to the Whatcom County Food Bank Network. The poultry donations will feed 634 families. The turkeys and chickens were purchased with $5,575 in donations from individuals, businesses and Brown & Brown employees, plus $2,000 from Brown & Brown Insurance Services.
“Despite rising prices, we were able to give more poultry to local food banks that are seeing more people seeking help,” said Bobbi Green, a Brown & Brown teammate who helped organize this year’s drive. “We’re grateful for the amazing support we received to provide healthy, high-protein meals to struggling local families.”
